Lake Havasu

Home Page

There is a tremendous array of things to see in and around Lake Havasu City, with the London Bridge being the most enchanting and perhaps intriguing attraction. The shops of the English Village, situated within the shadow of the London Bridge, are built in Tudor style, which enhances the atmosphere of Medieval England that seems to emanate from the bridge.

Beyond the bridge is Lake Havasu, which continues to enchant water enthusiasts of every type with its secluded coves and mountain scenery rarely seen in the Southwest. Boats can glide onto palm studded beaches for picnicking, or they can cut along rocky shores to explore the mysteries of Topock Gorge and Havasu National Wildlife Refuge. Boat tours offer trips into areas where ancient man once tread and modern man seldom does. Bill Williams National Wildlife Refuge on the south end of the lake offers wildlife watching with over 200 species of birds plus bighorn sheep.

There are also several tours into the desert where remnants of pioneer life can be found amid the sand, sage, and cacti. The desert is an attraction in itself, with remnants of Arizona's past hidden among the brush. The tours can take you through an ecological wonder that has become home to such animals as bighorn sheep, bobcats, and coyotes.
The constant sunshine and mild winters make Lake Havasu the ideal location for everything from music festivals and car shows to boat regattas and jet ski races. Lake Havasu has become the center of such international events as the Skat-Trak World Finals, a jet ski race that draws over 700 of the world's top riders in a competition for $100,000 in prize money. Over 30 countries are represented by participants who vie for top honors in 29 separate classes. Also, held in the same month of October is the Relics and Rods Run to the Sun. This event attracts over 1,000 car enthusiasts, who dazzle spectators with their pre-1960 custom, special interest, and street rod cars.
