Lake Macbride is a major recreational area in eastern Iowa. Present on the lake are several fishing jetties, one universally accessible fishing pier and seven boat ramps.
Lake Macbride has a special motor regulation which allows use of 10 hp motors or less from May 21 - September 7. The rest of the year outboard motors of any size are permited at a no-wake speed only.
Lake Macbride is known for its crappie fishery, 8 - 10 fish are common. It has a good population of channel catfish, largemouth bass and walleye. It is the only lake in the state to have a fishable population of Kentucky spotted bass. For regulation purposes the Kentucky spotted bass is treated as a largemouth bass.
