This 574 acre lake lies in the 3,000 acre Sugema Wildlife Area. First stocked in 1992, the lake is quickly becoming one the Iowa's premier largemouth bass fisheries. Creel surveys indicate the lake is among Iowa's top bluegill waters, crappie fishing is also excellent.

Fishing jetties and an accessible pier for all provide abundant shore angling opportunities. The Van Buren County Conservation Board operates a camping area south of the lake. Lacey Keosauqua State Park, north of the lake has modern camping facilities. Three boat ramps are present on the lake.

A tremendous amount of fish habitat was placed in the lake when constructed in 1993. Trees were left standing in most of the lake basin, and a number of humps and underwater islands were built.
