Lake Royale

Lake Royale is man-made. Approximately 272 feet above sea level, it consists of 345 acres, with a length of 3.25 miles and a maximum lake depth of forty feet. The shoreline is eleven miles long and with a distance around the lake on Sagamore Drive of 13.5 miles. There are over 60 miles of roads, with a 1200 foot dam, and a 288 foot concrete spillway. The overall property of Lake Royale is 3500 acres which completely surrounds the basin, being fed by Cypress Creek and numerous springs. Presently, there are over 600 permanent residents scattered over more than 6000 residential, camping and golf course lots.
A residence cannot be built on a camping lot, nor can a camper be put on a residential lot. The by-laws and covenants can be obtained at the POA (Property Owners Association) office, where a full-time manager and office personnel are on staff. The lake is governed by a board of trustees, elected by the property owners. A building committee, finance committee, and board of adjustments are among the many support groups which enlist the help of the POA members.
To many, one of the most appealing features is the Lake Royale police force with 24-hour gate security. In addition, there is a maintenance crew and janitorial crew (for the clubhouse, comfort stations, etc.). The annual association dues are presently $275. The minimum requirement for a home is 900 square feet.

Lake Royale offers a year around Recreation Program. The Recreation Committee provides such activities as dances, dinners, sports tournaments, children's activities and socials. The lodge provides a community recreation center which is located on the water front. Beach I and Beach II provide lake swimming areas. The Miniature Golf Pavilion provides a sheltered picnic area and an eighteen (18) hole miniature golf course. Other amenities include two (2) swimming pools, playgrounds, tennis courts, and a basketball court.
