The Reservoir contains the wide and navigable waterway of the Yadkin River. The Reservoir is 2,560 acres of environmentally protected pristine Lake with 75 miles of shoreline. There is very limited development and a very stable shoreline management plan with normal variation under 1' and average drawdown under 2'.
On Tuckertown no individual piers/ docks are permitted however a neighborhood can get permission for a community boat slip and launch. All lake recreational activities are permitted including boating, swimming, fishing, waverunners, waterskiing, etc. A waterfront homeowner is allowed to moor a boat at the shoreline indefinitely. A frequent workaround for the no dock rule is to convert an old pontoon boat to a dock and moor it to the shoreline. Because it is a boat it satisfies the shoreline requirements. A terrific advantage of this rule is that there are only about 2 dozen homes on the lake so it is incredibly peaceful.
