There is NOTHING you have to do but move into this unique log cabin. We spent lots of hard-earned $$$$ in upgrading electrical, plumbing, windows, floors, adding a new shed, landscaping, and making the rooms easy to maintain with knotty cedar walls and ceilings.
Imagine driving into your long private tree-lined driveway to an electric gated entrance. You will notice the split-railed fence around your entire property.
The blue water of Lake Michigan will take your breath away! Continue down the drive, passing pear and apple trees. On your way, note the two wood barn sheds holding your "stuff".
Walk on to the large L-shaped custom deck with hot tub facing the lake and imagine yourself enjoying relaxing time anytime you want. Enjoy cookouts and watching lake activities from this deck.
Walk back to the stone pathway and head towards the lake on to a small deck. You'll see a 10x10 sandbox to the left to be used just for fun. To the right and under a large tree, take a seat in your lounger or swing chair, relax with a drink and view the boats, jetskiers, or barges crossing the lake. You can even see Chicago on a clear day!
Go down the stairs from the small deck leading to the water where you will be on a larger deck and picnic table. If you like, fish off the rocks on a walkway built on the rocks or walk down and swim in Lake Michigan!
Go back up the stairs and enter your home by opening a three inch original wood door to see the livining/dining room area with a 10' vaulted ceiling, three skylights and a huge wood-carved bear in the corner who has been waiting for your arrival! Walk on the original refinished "penny" hardwood floors in living room, bedrooms and hallways; if cold, turn on the fireplace (either wood or gas) and look through your new Pella picture windows and sliding door windows with unobstructed views of the lake.
If you want to go upstairs, turn on the stair step lights (if it's dark) and walk up the half-log stairs with custom handrail posts that match your deck. You will see your books in the built- in bookcase and a landing that can be used for a library with a lounge chair or "mini office". That fresh aroma is the tongue & groove knotty cedar on walls and ceilings in bathroom and hallways. Take a shower heated by a tankless heater either upstairs or downstairs in your fully reconstructed bathrooms. Enter one of two bedrooms or "extra room" that can be used for storage or small bedroom.
Walk downstairs to the tongue and groove knotty cedar kitchen and look out the picture window to see the lake and beautiful hummingbirds, robins, hawk, bluejays, finches, cardinals, cayotes, ground hogs, raccoons or squirrels that find your land their home.
Walk to your stainless steel refrigerator or get ready to cook on your stainless steel stove. Don't worry about the countertops, they are made of Cambria. Rinse your hands in the large stainless steel sink with disposal, or put dirty dishes in to your dishwasher. Open your original wood kitchen cabinets to get out your dishes or turn on the recessed lighting or undercounter lighting.
From the kitchen, step down a couple of stairs to the large pantry closet with shelving. Or, you can walk in to your heated garage to watch TV or work on projects. If not, walk downstairs on the half-log stairs to a fully finished "apartment" that can be used as an office, bedroom or recreation room. This area includes a bathroom with shower. If someone is in the bathroom, wash your hands in the sink outside the bathroom and use your microwave on the counter to heat up popcorn or coffee. For dirty clothes, turn and head towards the laundry room finished in tongue and grove knotty cedar; If cold, turn on the floor to ceiling natural stone fireplace. View the lake from the windows or walk out to the Lake from the back door.
To keep your log cabin warm and cozy, we blew in heavy insulation in the attic; added a new furnace and humidifier. To keep it cool in the summer, we added a new Carrier air conditioner. There are also overhead fans in bedrooms and living room.
You will not want to miss the spectacular lightning bolts on the lake, awesome morning sunrises or full moon views -- it is breathtaking! Coming home to your vintage log cabin is "Chicken Soup for your Heart and Soul"!
Your home is conveniently located near KR and 94. 10 minutes to Kenosha Harbor and Marina where you can store your boat. Commute by Metra train to Chicago or drive 45 minutes to Milwaukee. Catch Amtrack to Milwaukee or Milwaukee's Mitchell Airport only 15 minutes or drive 40 minutes to Milwaukee's Mitchell Airport, or 1 1/2 hours to Chicago O'Hare.
