Comanche is located southeast of Abilene between Brownwood and Dublin along US Highway 67 near Proctor Lake. Comanche County is bounded on the south by Mills County, on the west by Brown County, on the north by Eastland County and on the east by Hamilton and Eastland counties. The county is named for the Comanche Indians, whose territory once included the area.
