Southern Empress-An authentic stern-wheel paddle boat available for cocktail parties, as well as dinner and sight-seeing cruises on the lake. This 250-passenger vessel can also be reserved for private functions.

National Forest-The Sam Houston National Forest features extensive hiking, rough camping and wilderness areas, as well as seasonal hunting. The forest is also a protected habitat for the endangered red cockaded woodpecker. 409/344-6205.

Lone Star Hiking Trail-Features 127 miles of overland hiking trails with campgrounds, boat launches and picnic areas. Located in the Sam Houston National Forest.
