counties. The lake is 48 miles long with 289 miles of shoreline. The
average depth is 22 feet. The water level varies only twice a year
when it is lowered about a foot for maintenance purposes. The water
level today is 395.47 feet; full pool is 396 feet.
The primary uses of this reservoir are for hydroelectric generation
and recreation. Lay Lake is popular for tournament fishing and
Boat docks are permitted with prior approval of Alabama Power.
