Wisconsin's Second Largest Lake at 23,000 acres of water (36 square miles of water) and over 100 miles of shoreline. Lake Petenwell is so large that is covers portions of three Wisconsin counties including Adams, Juneau, and Wood County. The Juneau County side of the lake is the most sought after by land buyers with its sandy shoreline, gentle elevations, incredible views, and beautiful homes. The lake offers some of the best sailing, fishing, boating, and water sport opportunities in the Midwest! The lake is known for game fishing including Musky, Walleye, and Bass.
Much of the shoreline around the lake is owned by a power company and will not be developed. Private lakefront property is very limited on Lake Petenwell. Because of the limited private property on the lake, the lake has very little boat traffic even on the busiest of summer holidays. Sailing is a popular activity on the lake and the lake is generally calm enough to offer beautiful canoeing and kayaking. Of course, the lake is big enough and deep enough to offer great opportunities for power boating. With over 100 miles of shoreline, many families enjoy relaxing trips on pontoon boats around the lake. Numerous professional fishing guides operate on Lake Petenwell and offer trophy Musky and Walleye fishing excursions.
