Hello! My name is Colleen Scollon and I have been a resident of Lake Meade in South Central Pennsylvania for 16 years. Natives of Philadelphia, my husband and I relocated to the area with our children for a job change. Having spent most of our lives in the city, our move to Lake Meade was like being on a permanent vacation. We love that living in this area provides easy access to major cities while still being off the beaten path! After 20 years of teaching in elementary school I became a licensed PA REALTOR with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Homesale Realty. As an empty nester for the last eight years, my time has been dedicated to helping others make the transition to the next place they will call home.
With so many people now working from home Lake Meade is the ideal place to LIVE, WORK AND PLAY! Lake Meade is a private gated community with approximately 1100 homes built around a nearly 300-acre lake. You do not need to live waterfront to enjoy all the amenities Lake Meade has to offer! Whether you prefer fishing, wakeboarding, tubing or just cruising the lake, there is plenty to do in and around the water. Lake Meade offers over 200 boat slips located throughout 10 recreation areas spread over five miles of shoreline, as well as a community pool with 2 diving boards, a two- turn slide, and a zero-entry area to cool off safely. The central location is a reasonable drive to the Pennsylvania cities of Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Hershey, Lancaster, and York, as well as Baltimore, Maryland, Arlington, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The surrounding area plays host to the PA Farm Show each year and boasts several theaters and quality golf courses, some of the best fly fishing in the country at the Yellow Breeches Creek, Amusement Parks (Hershey park and Dutch Wonderland), the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, minor league baseball and hockey teams (Senators, Revolution, Bears), skiing (Ski Roundtop is less than an hour away), museums, concert venues (the Giant Center), numerous wineries and breweries and fine dining. Various organized groups are part of the community, including Scouts, Orchestra, Line Dancing, Gardening, Homemakers, Ski Club, Pickleball, Volleyball, “Hoopsters”, Yoga, and a Children’s Play Group, among others.
