One of the area's greatest recreational attractions is Green River Lake, which offers some of the finest fishing and boating in the state. The Civil War Battle of Tebbs Bend was fought here in 1863 and several local historic sites reflect that time period. Among the county's more unusual industries are the manufacture of church steeples and handmade cherry furniture. Its principal farm products include tobacco, corn, soybeans, cattle and hogs. The town is home to the nationally recognized Campbellsville University and to Taylor County Hospital, which includes the only Level III Trauma Center in the state.
