We’ve specialized in selling homes and land on Beaver Lake in Arkansas since 1980!

Beaver Lake Information

If you’ve been thinking about lake homes for sale, keep Beaver Lake in mind. The sprawling 28,370-acre lake is situated high in the picturesque Ozark Mountains along the White River, spanning Benton and Carroll Counties. Beaver Lake is a sports-fishing haven year round, and it draws in visitors with its thoughtful amenities, easy accessibility, and stunning landscapes.

Both experienced and beginner anglers agree that Beaver Lake offers some of the most varied and exciting fishing around. In addition to the lake’s healthy populations of bream, crappie, white bass, and channel and spoonbill catfish, the small mouth bass, large mouth bass, and striped bass fishing is excellent. Sport fishing really picks up in November, when lines are cast in hopes of catching striped and hybrid striped bass. Not to mention that everyone keeps Beaver Lake’s prized monster stripers in mind: these goliath fish weigh 40+ pounds and are known to frequent the flats where the northern region of Beaver Lake is met by the White River and War Eagle Cavern.

Boasting 487 miles of shoreline, Beaver Lake is strategically designed to accommodate the needs and interests of visitors. Resorts, cabins, and campsites circle the lake, inviting those interested in lake homes for sale to settle in. In fact, when the Army Corps of Engineers constructed the Beaver Dam in 1966, they went the extra mile by providing such accommodations as electricity, fire rings, showers, and paved access to twelve on-site parks. The lake itself is the main attraction, providing endless opportunities for fun in the sun and water. Take to a boat, jet ski, pontoon, or beach towel and relax just minutes from your lake-view cabin.

With Arkansas’ rather mild climate, golf season lasts all year in some areas of the state, and Beaver Lake is conveniently located near six courses. In addition to courses like Lost Springs Golf Course, Dawn Hill Golf and Racquet Club, and Brush Creek Golf Course, the Natural State Golf Trail is a network of thirteen courses placed around the state. Each course is designed to showcase the region’s unique geography. Similarly, many of the courses, like the Ponce de Leon course, highlight a piece of Arkansas history. If you’re interested in living on any of Beaver Lake’s area golf courses, you can find property listings and details at GolfHomes.com.

The Dianne Roberts Art Studio and Galley, in Benton, showcases the work of local artists, while encouraging visitors to get in touch with their creative sides with classes and supplies for sale. After a full day of fishing, swimming, or sunbathing near your lakefront property, enjoy a satisfying USDA-choice steak at Colton's Steak House and Grill.

Beaver Lake, the newest of the "Great Lakes of the White River, " covers some 70 miles through the beautiful Ozark mountains, with 449 miles of shoreline. It is only minutes away from the University of Arkansas, War Eagle Mill, Prairie Creek Golf Course, and Pea Ridge National Military Parks.

Beaver Lake was formed by a dam across the White River in 1960. Beaver Dam is located nine miles northwest of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. In April of 1963 construction of the powerhouse and switch yard began. In May of 1965 commercial generation began. The dam project was completed in June 1966, with an estimated cost of $46,200,000.00.

Beaver Lake is one of four multiple-purpose projects constructed in the upper White River Basin for the control of floods and the generation of hydroelectric power. The project also offers excellent recreational opportunities for people of all ages.

Beaver Lake consumes 28,220 acres and has an average depth of 60 feet, and has a maximum depth of 204 feet which is near the dam. An immure of the White River; major sources of water include Indian, North Clifty, Clifty, Prairie and War Eagle Creeks. Water flows through the dam and feeds Table Rock Lake. The dam maintains an average elevation of 1,120 feet above the mean sea level. Fluctuations can be expected and usually range from three feet below to five feet above the 1,120 mark.

The water is very clear and attracts divers from Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri and many other states as well. Foundations of buildings and old roads can be found and the village of Monte Ne was inundated and some of the buildings are visible above and below the surface.

Beaver Lake is a nature lover's delight during all seasons. Towering limestone bluffs, natural caves and a wide variety of trees and flowering shrubs afford shutter bugs and nature lovers many hours of enjoyment throughout the year.

Beaver Lake
Fishing Information

Northwest Arkansas abounds with a diversity of fishing opportunities. Beaver Lake has more than 28,000 surface acres of water. Just below the dam, the bone-chilling waters of the upper White River provides perfect habitat for pole-bending rainbow and record-size German brown trout. The lake itself provides year-round fishing pleasure for adventurous anglers who can try their luck at catching large and small-mouth bass, crappie, bream, white bass, stripers, and channel or spoon-bill catfish. Its shoreline is controlled by the Corps of Engineers, which stresses keeping it natural. Because its waters are quite clear, fishing is fabulous. Downstream of the dam, which was completed in 1965, a fishing trout farm is planned.

Each year, millions of fingerling game fish from the Blackburn Creek Nursery Pond are released into the clear, blue waters by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The first on-site rearing pond in this area, the Blackburn Creek Pond, is the workplace for fishery biologists and other specialists in the field who work hard to keep Beaver Lake in the forefront of fish production.
