The abundant wildlife of the Hill Country is highlighted by enclosures containing buffalo, longhorn, and white-tailed deer. These animals have played a part in the park's history and the local wildlife continues to be an important attraction for visitors. The park is famous for its spring wildflower display. Facilities include restrooms without showers; picnic sites with and without shelters; a snack bar within one mile; a museum; an interpretive center; an auditorium (capacity 234 people); an amphitheater; a swimming pool; playgrounds; a 1.25-mile-long, Paseo Del Arroyo (meaning "Creek Walk") Nature trail; historic structures; plus tennis courts, and a baseball field, which can be reserved through the park. (Donation boxes are available). Pool hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. daily through August 15. Then it will only be open on weekends through August 29, ending the 1999 season. The pool may be rented after hours by private groups. There is a dining hall (capacity 80) and a group picnic area (capacity 200). A bookstore is operated by Southwest Parks and Monuments Association (SPMA). A scout hut is under construction for future use as an education center.

Inks Lake State Park Visitors enjoy camping, backpacking, hiking, and golf. Since Inks is a constant level lake, droughts do not affect water-related activities such as lake swimming (unsupervised beach), boating, water skiing, scuba diving, and fishing. Activities such as nature walks, geology hikes, fish seining, lakeshore ecology, and Junior Ranger programs are conducted on Saturdays in the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day), and by special request through the park office. TCP activities, such as the Devil's Waterhole Canoe Tour, are conducted the second and fourth Thursday of the month in April, May, September, October, and November; every Thursday in June and July; and the first and second Thursday in August.

Longhorn Cavern State Park The park features historical and nature study. Located in the heart of the Highland Lakes, Longhorn Cavern is near four different lakes and communities that offer excellent opportunities in camping, fishing, and hunting. Facilities include a gift shop, a full service deli and snack counter, a picnic area, and 2 miles of hiking trails. The park is open for day-use only. It is operated by concessionaire, Longhorn Cavern, Inc.
