Greers Ferry Lake Information |
If you’ve been considering lake homes for sale in Arkansas, pay serious attention to Greers Ferry Lake. Established in 1963, Greers Ferry Lake has been dubbed one of the cleanest lakes in the entire nation, and is the seventh most popular tourist destination in Arkansas. Similarly, the lake boasts some of the finest walleye fishing around, hosting several record-breaking catches. For these reasons, and so many more, Greers Ferry Lake is a recreation and outdoor retreat not to be missed!
Greers Ferry Lake features 276 miles of glorious unpolluted shoreline to meander and 31,500 acres of water surface to explore. The overall purity of the lake not only attracts recreation enthusiasts and swimmers, but also appeals to anglers in search of a good hunt and a healthy catch! The many tributaries from the Little Red River that feed into the lake support the growth of some of the largest walleye anywhere. A whopping 22 lb 11oz walleye caught in Greers Ferry Lake continues to hold the world record today. Other varieties of fish you’ll find include bream, crappie, and rainbow trout, along with largemouth, smallmouth, striped, and white bass. In fact, another lake record is held by a 27lb 5oz hybrid striped bass. With these statistics behind you, you’re sure to hunt down your next trophy fish in Greers Ferry Lake!
President John F. Kennedy proudly dedicated Greers Ferry Lake by noting its significance to the state and country as a whole. His recognition is a source of pride today, as lake goers and residents continue to revel in all the lake has to offer. Just as fishing is a year-round treat, there’s never a shortage of things to do on and off the water. Step outside your lakefront property and launch your motor boat, sail boat, raft, or kayak for a fun-filled day of making waves, or suit up for an underwater adventure scuba diving through the lake’s deeps – it’s said that a flooded ghost town still lies on the lake bottom. The splashes you create on Greers Ferry Lake fast become fond memories!
In addition to all the things you can do on the water, there’s plenty more to do on land. Lake homes for sale also enjoy access to Greers Ferry Lake’s two surrounding recreation trails: the Mossy Bluff and Buckeye Trail and the Sugar Loaf Mountain Island National Recreation Trail. Take to trails of another kind by golfing at any local course like Mountain Ranch, Lost Creek, and Tannenbaum Resort.
