Lake O The Pines Information

If you’re thinking of lake homes for sale, look to Lake O’ the Pines in northeast Texas. This sprawling reservoir and recreation haven has been heralded for offering some of the finest boating, fishing, hunting, and overall outdoor experiences in the region. After spending one day on the lake, it’s not hard to see why!

Lake O’ the Pines is situated on the Big Cypress Bayou, and it stretches into Marion, Harrison, Camp, Morris, and Upshur counties. Anglers in these areas, and far beyond, flock to the lake for its impressive variety of fish that are ripe for the hunting. Take to the lake’s 18,700 acres of water surface for a day of fun—and productive—fishing; you’ll find largemouth and spotted bass, in addition to a healthy population of indigenous white bass. You’ll also come across crappie (black and white) and sunfish, along with blue, channel, and flathead catfish. All of these fish are happy and healthy in the fresh waters of Lake O’ the Pines, which means they’re on the hefty side, too! Search out the many man-made fish attractors to make easy work of hunting down your next trophy catch today!

Of course, Lake O’ the Pines hasn’t earned such a proud reputation for its fishing alone. Recreation enthusiasts are quick to point out that the lake hosts a multitude of boating, camping, and hunting accommodations that are simply second to none in the area. Follow the call of the water by first visiting any of the lake’s several public boat ramps and marinas. In particular, lake homes for sale are located in close proximity to eleven local and federal-run boat ramps, six privately owned concessions, and mile upon mile of inviting shoreline. Launch your personal or rented sailboat, motor boat, Jet Ski, kayak, or raft and prepare to make a splash! Another idea is to lay out a towel on the beach, sport your favorite pair of sunglasses and best summer smile, and soak up some warm Texas rays. Better yet—do it all!

Mingling with lakefront properties are numerous public and fee-based campgrounds, parks, and day-use facilities that line the shores of Lake O’ the Pines. In addition to offering spectacular nature-watching opportunities, the lake is bordered by 4,500 acres of land designated for hunting. Aim your shot for feral hogs, white-tail deer, and even wild turkey. Or set your sights on a birdie that really takes to flight on any local golf course: test your swing at links like Rusty Rail, Oak Lawn, and The Challenge at Cypress Hills. If you’d like to live on a Lake O’ the Pines golf course, visit GolfHomes.com today for property listings and details. With so much to see, do, and experience on and around the lake, many regard Lake O’ the Pines as their home away from home, and some are lucky to call it home year-round!
