Pachaug Pond is 3 miles long & 841 acres (+/-) in size. Jet skis, wave runners, fast ski-boats allowed on this pristine lake. Seasonal Park is open April thru October. Park is closed for the winter. The pond is artificial in origin, being formed by the impounding of the Pachaug River. The normal surface elevation of the water is 161 feet above sea level; however, the level is normally lowered during the winter to allow for maintenance of privately owned property. The surface area of the pond is approximately 870 acres; the pond normally hold about 1.8 billion gallons of water. The pond has a maximum depth of 16 feet and an average depth of about 6 feet.

Fishing Information
Fish species found in the pond include: bluegill and pumpkinseed sunfish, largemouth bass, golden shiner, white yellow perch, brown bullhead, white catfish, american eel, white sucker, black crappie, and chain pickerel. Sunfish, yellow, yellow perch, and chain pickerel are the most abundant species of fish in the pond. Relatively high numbers of trophy size bass (5 to 7 lbs.) also are found in the pond, reflecting a high rate of growth.
Jet skis, wave runners, and fast ski-boats are allowed on this pristine lake. Public access is provided through a state owned boat launch is located on the north shore of the pond adjacent to the Pachaug Pond dam. Facilities at the ramp include an asphalt ramp with concrete planks, chemical toilets on a seasonal basis, and parking for forty cars with trailers. In addition there parking and fishing facilities for the handicapped. A marked channel provides access to the lake.

Pachaug Pond is located in the township of Griswold in New London County, approximately 10 miles northeast of the city of Norwich. The shoreline of the pond is primarily woodland and pasture. Development on the shore is moderate with areas of cluster development.
The Pachaug State Forest borders on the northern shore of the pond, and the rest of the shoreline is privately owned.
