Eastland is rural enough to be in the country, but close enough to the city to be convenient. Located 95 miles west of Ft. Worth and 55 miles east of Abilene on Interstate 20. The town was named in honor of Captain William M. Eastland, who participated in the battle of San Jacinto, oil was discovered and a boom was started that lasted until 1922. Population of Eastland is around 5,000.
